Definitions and conditions:

Warranty service is specifically repair or replacement of components that are defective or missing following the initial installation. These are items that are listed as supplied by the manufacturer in the front of the garage door and operator manuals.  Interference with or reduced range of garage door operator remote control systems is not a warranty issue.  We will attempt to locate the source of interference at our convenience as a courtesy.   Delaminating paint is subject to factory investigation. It is the builder’s or owner’s responsibility to check the door system immediately following installation.  If there is no report of damaged, defective, or missing parts within 3 days, it is to be understood that the installation was accepted as intact and complete. Electrically operating a door with a functioning lock or without a reinforcement strut voids all warranties by door and operator manufacturers and installers.  Modification or relocation of installed components voids the materials warranty. If a part is found to be defective in the 12 months following installation, it shall be reported immediately upon discovery.  Parts that are defective will be replaced subject to factory verification.  Damaged or vandalized parts will not be replaced as a warranty fulfillment.  There is no charge for warranty service in the 12 month period following installation.  Warranty requests must be made by the entity that placed the order or the entity that submitted direct payment for the materials.  Labor charges for warranty replacement of materials after 12 months is billable. 

Maintenance/repair service is returning the garage door or electric operator to its newly installed operating condition.     This is to repair damage by vandalism, abuse, or wear.  If a door or operator was accepted as an intact and complete installation, service requests are considered to be maintenance or repair unless a component in the system is found to be defective.   Maintenance and repair is a charged service and will be billed to the entity making the service request. 

An adjustment is to fit the door or operator to the site.    This generally refers to making the door close higher or lower than it was preset to do.  In the event of a site abnormality, such as concrete or walls that are not level or square, it may not be possible to fully adjust the door, components, or operator to all of the site parameters.  If the track, rail, or torsion counterbalance needs to be relocated because of post-installation site changes, such as a new concrete pour, it is not an adjustment, but is a repair.  There is no charge for adjustments made within 90 days of installation or within 15 days following permanent power-up of the location.   Adjustments requested after specified time frames are billable and will be charged to the entity making the service request. 

 

If a service request was made as a warranty request, and there is no evidence of defective manufacturing or deficient installation, no repair or replacement will be made.  An authorized representative of the builder or homeowner must be present at the time of service.

 

I have read the definitions and conditions in this document, and am requesting that service be performed at the site listed above.  I understand that vandalism and damage to the door system caused by improper use is out of the control of the manufacturers and the installation company.
